Hello, my name is Elvis A. Hill. My father, Frank T. Hill, close family friend D.W., and I started Gas Bike Project as the result of our enthusiasm for motored cycles of all types.
Gas Bike Project is based out of sunny Tucson, Arizona where riding conditions are good almost all year long.
To read a brief history of my father Frank T. Hill and my involvement in the riding, repair, and building of motorized cycles, please continue on.
Frank T. Hill: 'In 1971 my family moved to Tucson, Arizona, which at the time was just a small town in the middle of the desert. By 1972 I had found the entertainment I was seeking by becoming actively
involved in racing 250cc dirt bikes through the desert and on the track. I rode and raced dirt bikes for a total of 3 or 4 years before I graduated to larger, street Triumph motorcycles.
At that time I had a 1950 and a 1971 Triumph, both were 650cc and used as my primary transportation.
In 1984 my son, Elvis Hill was born, and I reluctantly gave up my motorcycle riding hobby, with urging from my wife. Now that my son is all grown up, I've finally gotten back to riding
motorized cycles, this time in the form of multi-speed custom Gasoline bikes.'
The idea of Gas Bike Project started late in 2008, and by late 2009 we had produced our first single speed gas bike. Shortly after the first single speed bike hit the road, we built our
first 7 speed gas bike, for my personal use, which we affectionately named "Proto". It took us nearly 3 months, between destroying chains and derailers, to master the alignment and control of
chains, and get Proto on the road. After we saw the performance of Proto, we made Blacky I (7 speed), Red (21 speed), and Blacky II (21 speed).
To date we have over a dozen builds under our belt, and our bikes are getting better all the time.
